Is the poor jobs data finally hurting the market?

We have lived with this "jobless recovery" for the last 6 months with the stock market moving forward. It is without a doubt that this country needs the consumer to take action and start spending in order for corporate profits to pick up. Can we do that while American's are still losing jobs? I am curious to find out what you think.

  1. Consumers will increase descretionary spending when they are more confident about their jobs. Big business (whatever that is anymore) needs to start investing in projects to employ more people and reduce lay offs. Those projects should improve community infrastructure and quality of life.
